Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. He is the son of Manny James and Patty James of mixed race. He has the Nigerian father and a Caucasian mother. He graduated in 2010 at Sanderson High School. In 2015, he received the Bachelor of Economics degree from Wake Forest University. James gained fame when he made his screen debut on the reality television star during The Bachelorette. In 2020 he got selected to be the next bachelor for The Bachelor's season 25, becoming the initial African American male lead which later premiered in 2021. James's looks, height and personality made him a good fit for the role. The series ended when he decided to choose Rachael Krkconnell for a relationship with the actress. In season 30, (in 2021) of Dancing with the Stars, he competed with the dancer Arnold. James as well as Arnold placed 12th.
